Altieres Rohr is the creator and editor of Linha Defensiva, a Brazilian information security website focusing on the end user. The website provides news, tools and technical help, aiding users in the hard task of keeping their computers clean from all kinds of malicious softwares. He and Linha Defensiva are both members of ASAP, the Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals.
Since October 2008, he also writes an Information Security column for G1, the largest news website in Brazil, a part of Globo.com, one of the largest portals in the country according to Alexa. His column is published two times a week, but he also contributes with daily technology, games and security reporting.
Previously, Altieres was the moderator of the security boards in “Forum do Clube do Hardware”, the largest general Information Technology forum in Brazil. He has also operated IRC channels and participated in other web forums related to web design and development.
During the time he studied web-related technologies, Altieres found a rendering problem in Internet Explorer, which he described in detail at Position is Everything, a popular website among web designers.
Since then, he quit studying web design. He went on to become a Journalism graduate at Cesumar.
Other than geeking around the internet, Altieres also enjoys psychology, sociology, Japanese anime and manga, music and photography. He posts some of the pictures he takes in his Flickr and deviantArt accounts.
